Soft Ginger Bread

Ingredients

½ cup butter

¼ tsp salt

1 cup buttermilk or sour cream

1 cup sifted flour

2 tsp ginger

1 tsp nutmeg

1 cup sugar

1 cup molasses

1 tsp baking soda

2 tbsp boiling water

2 tsp cinnamon

1 tsp cloves

Directions

1Cream butter; add sugar and salt, beat until smooth. Stir in molasses, buttermilk and baking soda dissolved in boiling water. Beat until smooth. Add flour, cinnamon, ginger, cloves and nutmeg. Beat until light. Pour into a 9 x 13” pan. Bake at 300’ to 350’ for about 40 minutes
