Ammonia Cookies (Grandmaman’s)

Ingredients

1 cup Shortening

2 cups Sugar

2 cups Milk (lukewarm)

2 Tsp Baking Soda

2 Tsp Ammonia Bicarbonate (not the poison !!)

1 Tsp Salt

4 ¾ cups Flour

Directions

1Cream together the sugar and shortening, then add the milk.

2In another bowl, mix the dry ingredients together (flour, ammonia, baking soda, and salt)

3Mix all ingredients together to form a sticky dough.

4Roll the dough out thick (about ½ inch) and cut into circles

5Bake in oven at 350 F until cooked. Lightly brown on the edge.

6Bake for about 25 minutes at 350.
