Mrs Stewart’s Chocolate Cake

Ingredients

Cake Batter

1 3/4 cups flour

1/2 cup cocoa

1 1/2 tsp baking soda

1 tsp salt

1 tsp vanilla

2 eggs

1 1/2 cups sugar

1/2 cup shortening

1 1/2 cups milk

Icing

1/2 cup margarine

1/2 cup cocoa

3 cups icing sugar

4 tsp milk

1 1/2 tsp vanilla

Directions

Cake Batter

1Mix all ingredients in a large bowl beat until smooth

Icing

1Combine all ingredients in bowl and beat until smooth

2Preheat oven to 350º F. Prepare two 9-inch cake pans by spraying with baking spray or buttering and lightly flouring

3Distribute cake batter evenly between the two prepared cake pans.

4Bake for 30-35 minutes, until a toothpick or cake tester inserted in the center of the chocolate cake comes out clean.

5Remove from the oven and allow to cool for about 10 minutes, remove from the pan and cool completely.
